The tiny hamlets of Forest and Alleghany are located deep in the northern Sierra Nevada, and might be the most remote towns in California. Set to "Dueling Banjos", the tune from Deliverance, which really suits the area.

Thank you for creating a posting this slide show. My ancestors, the Thompsons, lived in both towns and operated the Golden Anchor Hotel in Alleghany during the late 19th century.
