To download an mp3 file of the accompaniment, go to www.steveparkhornmusic.net. This is a very nice intermediate level piece. It would be good for a recital or Solo & Ensemble festival. It has a couple of bass clef Es and one low B. It goes to a high G a few times. Subscribe! I will be adding more solos on a regular basis. I teach horn at a University and my goal is to create a video library of some of the best horn solos for my students and others. Also let me know if there is something you would like me to record.

  • This is fantastic! I have two questions - what type of microphone are you using to record, and what horn are you playing? Is it an 8D? The valve caps are rounded like on my Yamaha 668-II, but the trigger is different...

  • I use an MXL 990 microphone. I am playing on a Conn 8D (Elkhart)

  • Cool! I am just learning to play this piece (me being a middle school student)

  • I love your goal. Keep going! You play extremely well and inspire more than just French horn players, me being a trombone player (:

  • this is fantastic.... very good

I played on an 8D throughout high school and college. I loved it. I really enjoy your tone - the horn suits you well!

I'm glad to see that the mic is affordable. I've been searching for a good horn mic, and the one I've had my eye on is the Shure KSM44. MUCH too expensive!

Thanks for all the great music you share. I really appreciate it.

  • That's nice Steve!

  • Great stuff Steve! I remember playing this back in my youth. What a delightful piece! Thanks for sharing it with all of us. As always, your playing is superb. I also like the video effects that go along with the different sections of the work.
