  • Hi there,

    The stickier the foundation, the better it is for balance and strength-building. The best way is a good mat like the Harmony Mats on a non-carpeted floor. A mat on carpet doesn't really do anything, as it can slide. I've been injured by trying to do a vigorous practice on carpet and slipping in Down Dog--it's just not optimal.

    But work with what you have, just take shorter stances and maybe try getting the Yogi Paws on your hands and feet for better traction on a carpet. xo! Sadie

  • I've been doing yoga for about a month now and was just wondering...should I be doing it on a yoga mat? I've been doing yoga on my living room carpet. Do you think a mat is really necessary if I do it on carpet? Do you think using a mat makes the whole yoga experience more enjoyable or easier? Thanks for your help.
