So, this was all from Sunday, AKA January Third, AKA my 16th birthday. Good stuff. I got a Nikon D3000. XD AND a 50-200 mm lens for it. xD
Anyhoo, That was a good ride. Before Christmas SH was being a total butt. He wouldn't pick up the right lead, would buck, and either A) refused jumps or B) was so lazy that he would trip and do face plants. :/ But after Christmas we went on a few good trail rides, and I think thats all he needed. His brain was fried from all the arena work, and the trails really helped ice it down. C: So, now we're back on track. But my trainer still won't let me jump. And, of course, I've git my mum riding with me all the time to reinforce it. :P
Last night (Tuesday) I had my lesson. The first half I was on SH. He was wonderful. Kind of cut the corners, but that was partially my fault. He was so bad before that he would even hesitate at ground poles, but he glided over them like nothing was there last night. After that? My trainer set the poles up into some (roughly) 18" crossrails, and SH FLEW over them! Not only did he actually JUMP them, but he jumped them outstandingly! I think thats the best he's ever jumped. C:
Anyway, after going over the jump twice (which I didn't get video of because my mum was warming up a lesson horse for me) I switched to a lesson horse named Nick. Let me tell you a little something about Nick, he's the most difficult horse I've ever ridden.
My green-broke mustangs are an easier ride.
Nick takes advantage of you. He'll canter when you ask for an extended trot, won't slow to a trot until s strides after you ask, and charges the jump nearly every time. Sure, it doesn't sound so back, but add that to the most uncomfortable trot you could imagine that also seems to send your feet flying into the stirrups much farther than even remotely safe? You've got yourself a difficult horse. My first jump on him I was ahead of him (he tricked me, I promise), the second I zoned out and didn't even get into two point. The third? My trainer made the jump higher. :/ After that ma eq was fine-wonderful (or so I've been told.) And, of course, no video of that, either. Mum was cooling out SH.
And, despite it all, I rather enjoyed Nick. Fairly certain I'll be riding him again next lesson, but not sure.
And now, after that wonderfully messy, boring, long description, I still have 22 minutes and 20 seconds to kill before this uploads...
