Hackintosh 10.5.6 HTPC with full updates, hooked up to 52" Samsung in 720 and 1080.
Remote controlled by RowMote (Iphone app).
$139 MSI Wind Desktop barebone from New Egg. With a few spare parts lying around, I got it up and running using the Boot 1-3-2 with EFI Boot, Cameleon, DSTD.AML for GMA. Works perfectly as you can see.

  • what did you use to connect it to the screen?

  • VGA. It has VGA. My TV, Samsung has a VGA input.

  • Good stuff, WOW, I'm looking for a computer for my mom, and this seems perfect (very inexpensive) it works with 10.5.6 damn, and it seems to run fast. Isn't it a 1.6 GHz atom processor. One question, does it lag at all?

  • no real lag. except it cant play some HD files. It is faster than my old 12" powerbook G4 and the 1st gen Mac Mini. Comparable to a G5 1.25 Powermac.

Ilife 09 works great and I've burned several DVDs with no problems.

  • alexbates?

  • i just got the Msi nettop 330 and Omg Dont get it, i Could NOT get os x on it...... AT ALL!

  • I built the same barebones, got mine for $124 after rebate though ;) , being it's SATA only I couldn't use my old IDE stuff oh well?

720P worked only for me, 1080P was not possible. I don't think the 330 dual core version would help?

Check out the new Zotac Mini-ItX IONITX-C-U Atom/Nvidia Ion mobo, available in the 230 single or 330 dual core, more pricey but takes 4GB of RAM, HDMI, DVI outputs, Newegg has the 230 in stock, the 330 should be showing up soon. Blueray and 1080P capable.

  • Very cool! I've got a Hackintosh HTPC as well, running Plex, Boxee, Front Row, etc.

    Great stuff!
