In this artistsnetwork.tv workshop, The Evening Landscape, watercolorist Sterling Edwards shows you how to paint a warm, serene, evening glow on a snow-covered field, step by step. Sterling starts with a few demos on how to use bristle brushes for everything from graded washes to grass texture. Then he puts his trusty brushes and four-step process to use as he paints a snowy scene--paint the midtones, lay in darkest darks, selectively glaze, add final details. His painting method is a great guide no matter what your subject! In this preview he shows step one of his four-step process. Enjoy!

  • its beautiful to watch you paint but i just request you if you can give a demo like part by part. being a housewife in india i am trying to learn all the detailsof water colour painting at the age of 49. if you please help!

  • @onzkicg 300lb refers to the weight of an entire ream (usually 500 sheets), but is used to denote the weight of single sheets within that ream. So you could have a tiny scrap of 300lb paper and you'd still call it '300lb paper'. This is standard practice when describing any type of paper. In grams it would be 640gsm.

  • a+++++++++++++

  • @scryptkeeper2006 same question, I'm confused if he's talking about the procedure or machine pressure applied to paper or the price in London pound. But nevertheless I think in market paper is labeled in GMS.. now the question is how many gms is a 300 lbs paper. This dude made me think, I'm planning to buy his video though. :)

  • Am under the sensation. Beautiful

  • Really cool video! I like how you can sort of predict what the paint's going to do - like right after you painted the dark violet mountain cap, the paint was light enough to use on the lower part of the mountain...I wouldn't have expected that, haha. Thanks for this!

  • @scryptkeeper2006 its not really 300 pounds.. lol

  • where do you get 300lbs. paper?!?!lol.
