"I can't tell you how special it's been being able to come back here and do this Christmas tour and sing these songs that just mean a lot to me and to have all of you here tonight with us. There's no place like home. I always say that. Looking back through these last few years and all the support we've had and all the amazing experiences we've had and I've had, I feel very blessed in my life. While I'm home in front of you guys here tonight, I would like to make a special announcement that I've chosen to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It's not because someone told me that I was supposed to do it, not because that I no longer want to do music anymore, but it's because it's the feeling that I felt that I need to do next in my life. It's just the same feeling that I've always followed, tried to follow, in my life. It's the feeling that's allowed me to have the opportunities I've had, the challenges I've had to overcome, and the blessings, too. I've learned to trust that feeling and I've learned that I need to answer when it calls. That is the reason why I know that I need to do this in my life. I just wanted to thank you guys. I'll be going the first half of next year. I just wanted to announce that while I was home here in front of you guys because you mean so much to me. Thank you so much." -David Archuleta 12/19/2011

  • David didn't have tears when he took 2nd and lost $1M in AI. All that pressure and no tears. Here we see what really matters to him. His faith, his family, his music....it's what he's always said. We've known that David could have parlayed his AI fame into much greater fame and fortune if only he'd have been willing to compromise his valuesand be more sexy, crude, seen with alot of babes, controversial, high on drugs, a lawbreaker, etc etc. He took the hard road. He's courageous.

  • David makes us cry but at the same time proud of him.I am really proud to say people who my idol is,David, handsome, intelligent,a good person, and God loving, that's why God love him too, giving him lots of blessings, nobody can replace David in my heart,HE IS MY IDOL,FOREVER. Whatever he wanna do,I'll always be his fan,I will support him,I'm sad and shocked, but I'm also happy for him.I will definitely pray for him.I will not go,I will "Wait" for his return!

  • Terrible news David how can defend babtizing Anne Franke? What about black people? Are they now accepted in the LDS because God said so? they suffered enough? Maybe you are subsuming yourself to what you think is bigger than yourself. I will think about you and I am not giving up on you. Maybe you are like the polls have been showing, the young christians are fighting poverty and ignorance. You have the choice David Archuleta. The gods want you to find love David and your fans do too.
  • greatchoice david... :)

  • Yay!! LDS

  • Say goodbye to any career you might have had...

  • @linyusos Research Romans 7:1-2 and Matthew 22:24-30.

  • I discovered David only a few days ago but, as soon as I found out just who he was (not this random person being interviewed), I thought him such a lovely person and watched more, then found that I also love his music. I've watched him and his music every day since I found him.

I don't know much about Mormons, and his announcement was the first I've heard of this "mission", but listening to him and watching him I almost cried - what an emotional, lovely boy.

    Keep following your heart, David!

  • Christianity > Mormonism

  • Someone knows where will he do his mision?

  • David , you ROCK!

  • I was at that concert !
