Holy Hell!!! I've never heard a more pathetic overly melodramatic reading. She didn't even pre-read the poem. Blasphemy, blech! I came to this site to hear the poem, not to hear her read a part and then kibbitz. the horror, the horror.
She completely ignored the dynamic rhythms of Plath's poetry. In reading in such an overly--emphatic manner, stressing every word, she missed the musicality of the poem, and rather than bringing to prominence the poem's significant moments, she brought none of them to prominence.
i read your book about frieda. good job. was friends with hank in the late sixties, early seventies. we hung at the pool hall, palm springs, the park, the back room where hank would live at your mom's. met you there too. dave cassidy, bob bisno, glen cowan. hank and i were buds for a few years, got into some fun trouble together. say hi for me. jim h
