  • Oh yeah, Vivian Vulture always scared the crap outta me! My older siblings were lucky enough to be on the show (though I did appear onstage on Ch. 5's "Dialing For Dollars" with my Mom in about '66 or '67, I woulda been about 3)

Carmen was hot! Used to have a 45 she made called "Harry The Skunk", cool pic sleeve lousy record.

Remember Pete Lee on Ch. 11? He had a hand puppet & would pull on the girls pigtails with it & carried a long boom mic in the other hand.... after school, mid '60s?

  • I believe it was "Dave" Lee. Yeah, they don't make shows like that any more!

  • remember roundhouse rodney's song I love onions? and the Happy Happy Birthday Song?

  • I've been looking for a decent video of that. There is one on this disc but it is with a different, later guy and not nearly as good.

  • Oh, I LOVED this show as a kid. And, like many kids, I totally cracked up watching this sketch. Minnesotans are weird, and proudly so.

Had the opportunity to meet the real Casey Jones (a.k.a. Roger Awsumb) a couple of times, once as a kid, years later as a mother of a small kid, when he was promoting the video this came from. This reminds me to get my video converted to DVD!

Only thing is, when I was a kid, Casey Jones looked OLD! Why doesn't he look OLD here?! ;-)

  • I've spent the last 35 years asking if anyone remembered "Frontier Town", NO ONE ever did- until you! Thanks for confirming that it wasn't just a figment of my imagination. It was up on Hwy 65 in what used to be called Johnsville, but I think is now just part of Ham Lake or Blaine. I remember the stage coach, panning for gold & the outhouse with a catalog for butt wipe.... real authentic old west! It closed in the late '60s & sat like a ghost town 'til it suddenly vanished in the mists of time.

  • And Mel's Matinee came on right after Casey Jones, remember that?

  • I love Casey Jones!

  • It was fun seeing this video again, that was my recording Casey used, Jimmy Jenson. You can still purchase the CD. 320-762-2411.

  • My favorite childhood TV memory! What I wouldnt give to go back in time and watch this on our little black and white tv in our little house in Brooklyn park with canned pears and buttered toast for lunch. I was so exited when he would do this song.

  • Good ole' Dr Demento's show did this back in the early 1980's

  • @mndandy I can't believe someone else remembers "Frontier Town!" I have photos of my siblings and me taking pony rides there. I don't remember the outhouse - must have missed that.

  • Weird Al can't hold Casey's long underwear.

  • Minnesota in the 60's... great place to grow up. I loved all the local kids shows. Kept me off the streets for a couple hours each day.

  • @mndandy Oh ya! I loved this show when I was a kid. Popeye & Pete was good too. Liked when Pete's puppet would pull on the boys ties and the girls pigtails. lol

  • I got Roundhouse Rodney's autograph when he was doing a Saturday show at Bullhead Days in Waterville during the late 1960's. The great thing is how he signed it...he laid my autograph book at his feet, did a handstand, and then while balancing on one hand, signed the book with the other. Those who saw it clapped for what seemed like 10 minutes; just incredible.
