I noticed that when the compressor is engaged, the rpm are dropping ιnstantaneously and that is kinda annoying. What do you think?

  • is it 1.4 or 2.0?

  • @redragon95 1.4

  • That is the air conditioning clutch bearings seizing up. The engine computer realises that too much effort is being applied and then disengages the clutch on the compressor. Unfortunately, they're not cheap! Looking at around £800 for a new one.

  • @robjones2006 What does the air condition has to do with this noise? Its off anyway :S

  • Just my thoughts..

The compressor shoud kick in almols idling rpm's and up to 2400 rpm.

Over 2400 rpm the compressor is activated only when necessary and max 3500 rpm. Actually what you see here is compressor de-activating hence the drop in rpm. Maybe it's engages again because you are stationary and turbocharger itself cannot produce enough pressure and you are pushing it beyond 2500 rpm. Is it possible the increase in sound is coming from the radiator and intercooler fans?

  • it's normal! All compressors -not turbines- needs some power (HP) to engage. If i am correct the Veyron's compressors need more than 100bhp to function :o Ohhh, by the way, have you tested the EDL in twist conditions? Is it efficient like Touareg's?

  • @robjones2006 he's talking about the turbo compressor silly head

  • i have the 2.0L TSI and it does some funky hesitation type things as it works it's way up through the RPMs while driving. wonder if I'm feeling something like that going on.
