Schiele was the most remarkable draughtsman of the 20th century - maybe any century. He strippeed the mask off so called 'polite' society to reveal the angst and putrfaction beneath and in his way forshadowed the horrors of WWI with some of his images. Curious choice of music for turn of the century Vienna though... could have been truly atmospheric with the odd zither or two.

The painting at 2:49 (can't remember title -isn't it called something simple like 'Die Familie'?) breaks my heart every time I see it. Egon and his pregnant wife suffered two of the most tragic deaths in art history, in my opinion...and what he depicted in that piece was all he ever really wanted, which took him too long to realize....

Great art, schiele is really one my biggest influences, i just love the way he portrays people, generally i rather like expressionist stuff, but, well i love schiele too. Thanks alot for putting this video up

yeah..schiele had such a fantastic way of portraying the true figure without any false gestures...pity he died so young !!!
