CONSTANCE, Ky. (WKRC) -- The Anderson Ferry is back on the water Friday evening after being docked for a few hours. The ferry closed between 10 and 4 Friday so employees could attend the funeral of deckhand Virgil Souder. The 82-year-old slipped from the ferry into the river Wednesday. He was pulled from the water two miles downstream and later died. Souder worked for years as a pilot on the ferry and most recently as a deckhand. This is one of the few times in its 196 year history that the ferry closed. The other reasons were weather related.
