When Rodgers and Hammerstein's beloved Broadway musical "The Sound of Music" was adapted to the silver screen in 1965, Twentieth Century-Fox made the creative decision to use marionettes in The Lonely Goatherd sequence, resulting in one of the most charming musical numbers ever captured on film. Now, the astounding magic of marionette puppetry animates the entire story, as the world famous Salzburg Marionette Theater revitalizes the true tale of the Von Trapp Family Singers!

"The Sound of Music" is set in and around Salzburg, Austria, home of the world renowned Salzburg Marionettes, but it wasn't until last year that the Marionette Theater and "The Sound of Music" came together. Now, this exquisite troupe brings the story from the snowy Alps to the Green Mountains— coincidentally, just miles from where the Von Trapp family eventually settled in Stowe.

Formed in 1913, the Marionettes have traveled the world and put audiences under its unique spell in performances of operas, ballets, and fairytales. With "The Sound of Music," the company further extends its artistic scope into American musical theater. However, a smaller stage does not mean a smaller show—expect all the highlights of the Broadway blockbuster, including the spectacular songs "Do-Re-Mi," "The Sound of Music," "My Favorite Things," and "Edelweiss."
