jon peterson's performance is life changing! truly heartbreakingly stunning!

I love this song, and this is one of the best versions i ever heard of it, or even ofcourse, it is so different from the interpretions i knew. Its kind of desperade and hopeless but although like he tryes to prove himselv that hes not caring about all.

This guy is perfect! His performance is dripping with sardonic irony, with defensive flippancy that puts a brave face on the thinly masked bitterness he's feeling. His combination of legit singing technique and belt is most unusual, and the only performer I've seen who has shown that he actually has technique. Bravo, Jon Peterson!! I wish we could see him do the whole song.

what an incredible interpretation. i mean. wow.
-
that's in the 1987 revival-the 1998 revival expanded the song and didn't have it continue over the dialogue
I wish it did though

he is so good!

this is my favorite interpretation yet
he's soft, and yet loud and harsh at the same time. it's beautiful.
i don't interpret his performance as angry, but rather as desperate.
The emcee is breaking down, and this is the only way he knows how to show it and express it.

I played the Emcee a few years ago in something like this. I am now in my final year of one of three music theatre courses in Australia. The song isn't supposed to be angry. This song is designed to break down and show the raw sorrow of the character, and show whats behind the make-up and onstage antics of the EmCee.
