Jon Roma, a volunteer at the Monticello Railway Museum, keeps the long time tradition of hooping up train orders to the Head End Crew of the train and Conductor on the rear. This is only the second time the Southern #401 has run in service since it's restoration debut last month.

  • Nice job passing the old time single track orders. These are now extremly rare in today. Now most lines are CTC [Centralized traffic control]. On single tracks lines dispatchers can send messages via radio to drivers of the next section ahead. Still in countries like India, Thailand, and Malaysia there are many places where train orders are still used for single line tracks known as Token exchange.
