Shade & Honey ~ Allesandro Nivola

I could look in your face
For a thousand years
It's like a civil war
Of pain and of cheer
But if you was a horse
I could help you with your chains
I could ride you through the fields
By your fiery mane

May your shade be sweet
And float upon the lakes
Where the sun will be
Made of honey

I crack diamonds, write you a poem
'Cause no one here can save you
She's returning to the Earth
But one day she'll be silver
Stars are dying in my chest
'Til I see you again
She was born with the wings of a hawk
Where she combs her hair with blood

May your shade be sweet
And float upon the lakes
Where the sun will be
Made of honey

May your shade be sweet
May your shade be sweet
Where the sun will be
Made of honey

May your shade be sweet...
May your shade be sweet...

And float upon the lakes...

May your shade be sweet...

  • this song is actually by Sparklehorse (aka Mark Linkous). you should really put that in the description. nice cover, it sounds a lot like the original though.

  • I love this song and had a hard time finding it on You Tube. Thanks for posting it. What a great movie and yes, Alessandro should be better known.

  • Never heard a song making a film better than this one did in "Laurel Canyon".

  • This is my favorite song ever mainly because the lyrics are so beauittufl to me. To me the song is like an ode from an old lover singing to the spirit of his now deceased love and asking her to leave this world in good grace despite the hardships she may have endured. The lyric STARS ARE DYING IN MY CHEST/UNTIL I SEE YOU AGAIN speak to me the most that one day I hope to have it tattoo. Great video.

  • I have loved Laurel Canyon since I first saw it, a few years ago on cable. Was absolutely positive the guy playing Ian was NOT singing it. He just made it seem like he was trying too hard to "act" like he was singing it, to me. I recently found out he is the actual singer for this and the "Someday" song, and my jaw is still on the floor. I like the movie version better than SparkleHorse's.

  • I just watched Laurel Canyon yesterday and totally fell in love with the soundtrack. This song is especially hypnotic and haunting.

And Allesandro Nivola is seriously HOT dammmmnnnn *fanning myself*

  • simply amazing.. that's it

  • Nice that it sounds just like it does in the studio scene in the movie. I came across a bland other version but this is the right one.
