This band, centered around John Ferdinando and Peter Howell, was around in the late 60's-early 70's and released every album under a different band name (Agincourt, Ithaca, Tomorrow Come Someday and Alice Through the Looking Glass). This is from their 1973 album "A Game For All That Know" as Ithaca. As with all their releases this was a private and very limited pressing, initially less than 500 copies. It was reissued in 1993 to a limited pressing of 1000. All of their albums were recorded on a two track reel to reel recorder employing the sound on sound method of overdubbing which contributed to the "lo-fi" nature of all of their albums.
This track is a good representation of how ahead of their time and influential this band is. There are traces of the independent lo-fi movement of the 1990's in their sound as well as traces of what we would hear from bands like Belle and Sebastian and Cat Power.
This recording has been slightly remastered from the original source. Some equalization was added to remedy the muddiness caused by the sound on sound overdubbing.
