Well this is a design I made for what I thought was a 3 and a 4 input XOR and XNOR gate. It is just my vertical design but with more input areas. It functions the same as a regular xor/xnor gate, when the inputs do not equal the output is on (or opposite for xnor gate). I do not think that this will have to much of a practical uses...but it might, maybe more useful when pistons come out.

Thanks.

Is this gate truly an XOR gate? Or is it a new gate?

  • nice be sure to check out my new gate

  • @cdh473 i meant the xor gate is false(Or inverted true) if all inputs are equal

  • @cdh473: this is definitely not a nand gate. If it were nand, then the output would be on when all the inputs were off, which is not the case in the video.

This isn't a gate; its a combination of gates. Looks to me like a combination of an AND and NAND gate. All the basic gates that can ever exist have already been found. Anything else created that seems to be a gate is just a circuit that uses a combination of the basic gates.

  • @cdh473 wait but, when all of the inputs are off, the output is off...?

  • @cdh473 oh...

  • @reconJeff An XOR gate returns a positive output when exactly ONE of the inputs is positive.

The gates in the video are NAND gates.

A NAND gate returns a positive output when ONE OR MORE of the inputs are OFF.

  • @darkhenmor Well the general definition of an xor gate is: "odd number of true inputs yields true output" - so neither are xor gates?

  • @darkhenmor no-a nand gate would be on when no inputs are on and off when all inputs are on...right?

  • @darkhenmor yea-i read up on xor gates after I posted the vid and discovered that. I thought they were because according to the Minecraft wiki an xor gate activates when the inputs are not equal to each other... What kinda of gate would these be though?
