@robert0380 Technically true, but not not exactly accurate. The term "assault rifle" was coined by the Nazis (who did wish to put limits on gun ownership) to refer to a select-fire rifle, firing an intermediate cartridge. The term has been stolen by the gun grabbers, who apply it to weapons that do not fit that definition.

@robert0380 actually that is partly right but it also refers to a gun that is meant to assult human beings whcih the ar 15 is based off the m4 and is is assault rifle because it is not a submachine gun nor a full on rifle it is a general purpose type gun doesnt shoot as fast as subs but can touch you at medium range out to around 800 metres give or take

ShortDot 1-4x is a great choice for this AR. I like the 14.5" barrel, (but especially for 6.8 SPC).
