Gubaidulina- Chaconne for Piano

Continuing with the Neoclassicism, here is Sofia Gubaidulina's Chaconne for Solo Piano, commissioned by the Artur Rubenstein piano competition a few years back. To be honest, I feel that the extremely dense polyphony of the "melody" obscures the variation form of the piece too much to be considered a chaconne in any way other than purely academic, but it is a great piece none the less. Although I will be honest in saying that it took me a bit of time to warm up to the piece.

Depends heavily on the piece, although I think she is as often as she isn't.
