Album: Strictly from Hunger (1969)
Track title : Portland 69
Movie: Punishment Park (1970)
Director : Peter Watkins
Punishment Park's synopsis :
Warning : this is a fiction.
USA, 1970, in a context where drafting for the Viet-Nam war is criticized, the struggle for civil rights is intense and alternative ways of life become popular, social strife is at its peek.
As a result, the state of emergency is officially declared, allowing to detain anyone considered a "risk to internal security". Repression matches discontentment. Soon, the prisons grow full.
To lower the carceral burden, the convictees of emergency tribunals will be allowed to choose between spending their full conviction time in prison or... three days in the Punishment Park.
If they get to the American flag, they will be released. However, they'll first have to cross 60 miles (80km) of the Californian desert while being chased by policemen under training...

@sorolopas : Portland (Oregon, USA) is the band's hometown... 1969 is the year the album was released... I guess that would be the reason.
