How To Record BC2 With Fraps and Encode With VirtualDub. This will also work with any game/windows environment, as long as you are using FRAPS 3.0 or higher. I just choose BattleField Bad Company 2, due to its current popularity. This whole video was created with Fraps and VirtualDub.
Download klite codec x64 3.40 here

  • I only get a picture of the start of the video and it only records my sound, tried everything, Please help me

  • @afarius

try reducing your recording settings in FRAPS, playing back the recorded files takes lots of CPU power too. I found sometimes they lag up for me.

  • How do I record the FPS in the corner? It's usually not there after you recorded and watch a video.

  • @Punisherrrrrrrrr

For me as long as I could see the frame counter when recording, it would show the frame counter during playback

  • When on the fraps decompression, i can't click configure, or use it, it only comes up an error when i try to save it.

  • @Citroable

You actually don't want to go on the fraps decompression tab. If you watch the video again @1:50 notice I am on the ffdshow video codec tab. In order to get that tab you will need k-lite codec installed. Or a similar codec pack. See video description for k-lite codec

Great to hear. I am not exactly sure why the latest version of klite does not have even 1/2 the number of options as the older one. The old one has 24 options the new version has 4 options for encoding. Weird. Good to hear there is other working alternatives such as xvid. I believe I tried that in the past but my videos only had audio after encoding in virtualdub, must be fixed now.

  • @TeamEPYX Thanks for the response. I accually got it working last night by downloading the latest xvid codec and everything is working great. thanks.

Ok so I figured out the problem. The latest version of Klite codec does not give the option for MPEG-4. It actually only gives you 4 options. If you download Klite codec x64 3.40 (the version I used) all should be good. I have uploaded it to megaupload because I could not find it easily online. See description for link.

  • @TheZeldak How did you get MPEG-4 to show up? I installed 64-bit klite and 64-bit virtualdub but no go :(
