Authentic working Vietnamese rice-pounding machine. This device was used in the Theory Problem 1 at the International Physics Olympiad 2008 in Vietnam. Filmed two days after the competition at Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi. More on IPhO 2008 at http://ipho2008.hnue.edu.vn/

  • theoretical question 1: only 2.25 points for me :$

    -Roeland van Beek, the Netherlands-

  • This is still better than the average (1.74 pts) among all 376 participants. And none has scored a perfect 10 (max 9.75).

  • lol that question really was terrible:P actually I only understand how it works after I seen it:p

  • What a pity that none asked me before. I was at the discussion of the theoretical problems so I saw all the problems and the solutions in advance! (Just kidding ;)) but it was very interesting because all of you had chance to see a real machine in the Museum of Ethnology just one day after the exam

  • And it actually works!!!

  • haha even more than for me^^
