It was a great evening and I decided to have Trevor to come down with me to railfan at Edmonds. We had couple of good treats while we were there. With that being said, it's worthwhile to watch the whole video.

Train #1: SDRX Train #1700 arriving on time with F59PHI #906 leading.

Train #2: SDRX Train #1702 arrived on time with this time, Cabcar 307 and the F59PHI 902 (The Orca).

Train #3: Amtrak Empire Builder #8 arrives at the station. The Station Master shouted at a passenger to back off the platform. GE P42DC #19 was leading with a rather awful K5LA and a E-Bell instead of those Air Bell. This is one of very few Amtrak P42DC that has an E-bell. Most likely this unit was recently overhauled since this one looks brand spank'in new. P42DC #44 was trailing and the crew as friendly to give us a shave and a hair cut horn salute.

Train #4: SDRX Train #1704 arriving on time with F59PHI 904 leading the train.

Train #5: The Final Sounder Train of the day, SDRX Train #1706 arrives at Edmonds with cabcar 102 leading. This unit has a very nice K5LA as it echoes the city like if it were to sounded like the Horn Honking at the Horseshoe Curve. Plus the Sounder Crew gave us a highball as it was departing Edmonds.

We caught those 5 train in 1 hours and 30 minutes. A good way to end a great evening.

  • Great vid. You're wrong about one thing though. #19 isn't the only Amtrak P42DC that has an E-bell. There are a few others that have E-bells too.

  • Oh. I see, but still, pretty rare to find them though.

  • That would obviously make sense. It would make things easier to combine 4 trains of 3 car trains to 2 of 6 car trains. Considering that Sounder is running 2 big Seahawks Train to accommodate the relative large game crowd compared to the Home Run Special, which only runs one big trainset.

  • @PNWTransitFreak, consist flipping is done to make the Seahawks game trains possible. Everett doesn't have the room to store the bigger game train consists. So instead, they operate two trainset's "backwards" so they can combine trainsets to make one train for game trains.

  • Nice catches good horns. Once I went to Edmonds and saw 5 trains in just over 2 hours

  • amtrak is putting E bells on all of the p42's as time allows

  • Awesome video Andrew!

  • Fantastic video! :D I was there haha!

  • Nice Video. Great combination of Sounder and Amtrak footage. 5*'s and a favorite.

  • Thanks Felice. The 2nd F59PHI is indeed in a wrap. To be honest, I don't know why we have consist flipping all over Sounder. However, I'm happy with all of this variety that we have.

  • 100 and 116 as well.

  • Quite the rare finds on this day!
