I kinda agree. while some of Barrett's solo work is so brutally honest some are full of the child whimsy that Barrett had.Way back before he even did drugs I heard he had a childlike sense of wonderment. Some of his songs convey that, others are painfully raw & some are just what they were - reflections of the times, you can see Floyd in him BECAUSE HE STARTED FLOYD! I dunno he had something weirdly cool going on with his melodies. Wouldn't you miss me? yeah I would and I do. Shine Syd.

Why? To me Syd's solo albums were FAR MORE better than his work with Floyd. Yes, I agree that Syd's work is pure beauty/genius!

I used to think Robert Pollard was influenced by the Who, but after hearing Syd, I think differently.

Thanks for this, I enjoyed this version of elephant

he had early onset schizophrenia...for people who develop schizophrenia, this usually occurs from 18-24 in men...syd was exactly in this age group when his symptoms began to get worse. Obviously drugs didn't help, but they didn't cause his problem - he was already predisposed to get it. It's really sad. He had no choice but to isolate himself from society. He couldn't function in it anymore.
