Choreographed by American Choreographer Sean McLeod, "Strength of Woman" is the 4th movement of a 5 movement work that explores an African Mythology of how the world began. The work is a powerful piece within the work, but even more impressively has the ability to stand on it's own.
England's Andy Buchanan, Director of Fairfield Arts Centre in Basingstoke had this to say about the piece when it debuted in England for the first time:
Sean McLeod's "Strength of Women" performed by UK based Brazilian dancer Paula Conduit and America's Lorienne Beals, is just an absolutely lovely piece. It is very well made, well performed, and is a very accessible and enjoyable synthesis of ballet and contemporary styles, with a flavour of African movement. Many of these crossover style pieces just don't usually work - but this is how you do it, and this is how you do it very well indeed. In fact, we liked this piece so much, we are in discussion with NYIDE about touring it in the UK.
i absolutelty love this dance and i am so honored to be learning it!
thankyou sean!<3
