  • I totally agree with Vai on his 'accessability' issues. I'm impressed hearing it from his own mouth and it makes me respect him even more.

  • I wanna see Steve on 60 minutes interviews.

  • @Grimoire100 it was Steve Vai.

  • @Grimoire100 Over the Hills and Far Away!

  • Vai picked up a guitar because of Led Zep II. Can you guys remember WHO or WHAT wanted you to pick up a guitar?

  • Despite Hack's "unique" character, this is a nice little chat with Steve and an interesting discussion. Would love to see GGAM get Joe Satriani on too.

  • Steve Vai - Humble man. I have an even greater respect for him now...

  • This is opinated (on my part) in regards to impact and influeces but the remarks of the era guitarists is an approximation. What one person finds as a source for inspiration another might not. I do agree with the overall group of guitarists of the era in general and they led pathways to other influences. For me personally in a sense when the Guitar Player cover disc from Vai came out it (and Flex-Able) justified (?) the freak things I do or did at that time on guitar. ie: Very liberating...

  • ok there, Yngwie. shut up and let steve talk.

  • I think of this last decade 2000-2010 the guitar hero was John Frusciante.. i think he has that hendrix /page /eddie thing they are talking about... his music with the red hot chili peppers and his session work with the mars volta is accessible as any , and he has his own unique tone and sound, style and the showmanship..

  • Steve was Frank's friend, Edward was Frank's friend, but strangely these 2 guys didn't play together, why ?

maybe because Edward is stuck in his band too much, playing the same songs all the time, while Steve is experiencing many things with playing with many musicians...

I don't know for centuries to come but Steve Vai is most satisfying in the present day, feeding us more

  • @RockySeven7 Yes i was impressed by steve's answer and humbleness, too.
