So i finally did it. It went very smoothly, much easier than i thought! Took about an hour and a half, at a max of about 70rpm, including any time i had to unwind and rewind (about 3-4 times) a few turns, as well as do whatever else such as rigging the spool holder :P... Not a single overlap, or gap. There is, however, wire discoloration which really makes it look like i have some hundred gaps. I assure you there are not any :P.

It is a 4.5 diameter pipe with 24.4 measured inches of windings of 32 gauge of magnet wire, from Parawire. The resonant frequency is about 144KHz, and 66KHz with a 4 by 10 inch topload on the bottom, and a 8 by 20 inch topload on the top (about 40pf).

Thanks again to Rrolison68, i could not have done this many turns without a winder this quickly. Not to mention making the poly coating possible.

I have, so far, 8 coatings on the secondary. After 20 i will sand and continue putting coats and sanding with gradually higher grit (finer, that is) sandpaper. That should give me a glass looking finish.

  • thats nothing compared to winding 1000 turns by hand, using left for tension AND placing the wire, and using the right to turn the pvc XD... not fun

  • @123324ben Well that is how i always wound my secondaries. Its not that bad if it is a secondary about this size with 1000turns.
