Another Collab but this time with a very special guest, my kid Luke,Nice to see generations meet!
this guy learns fast!, Oh well...

Lyrics:

I drive through Wangi Wangi,
That old home town of mine.
My heart is beating strongly.
I think of my Valentine.

There's the old red phone booth.
Some how it still works fine.
There we learnt the chemistry of love
Each night on the old phone line.

As I drive through Wangi,
Ajourney back in time,
The photos I carry on me,
Remember my Valentine.

There's that old grey parrot,
Still sitting on his perch.
Do you remember how he swore at us
When we ran away from church?

I Cut in the bark of a gum tree,
"Babe I love you so"
I cut the words in deep because
I wanted all time to know.

Dark storm clouds gather,
Blowing hail on the roof.
Loud thunder shakes all my
Reflections in the booth.

But in the old red phone booth,
It's our song "Yesterday"
And the echo of your singing voice
That blows me away.

Each time I drive through Wangi
I get you on the line.
My heart is beating strongly.
You're still my Valentine.

  • Cheese and Rice!! Why do you two keep puttin' up stuff that sticks in my dang head?! lol Totally cool, as usual. I see broken hearts in Luke's future. Poor gals.

He will (maybe already does) absolutely overwhelm them. Talented - a chip off the old block. Thanks, man.

  • Hi again Doug.

I have sort of listened to your song... But you said that your son Luke was in the video so I got wrapped up in watching him. He is one good guitar player. Half of the time he didnt even need to look at his fingers. Please tell him for me that he did super. Now I have to listen to the song. BRB

  • Luke is a natural Rick:I've seen him play before and love his style.Great song:and I'm surprised you have our phoneboxes! How we miss them:now you're lucky if you spot ONE! Loved the parrot line:typical of a parrot. Thanks to all of you.

  • This is tops mate and excellent musical arrangement by Rick. I remember this the first time it came out and loved it then, but really getting a good good vibe from it again. Thanks for sharing Rick and can't wait for another surprise. We're very lucky Doug to have these very creative forces in our circle, of course I don't think there are any mistakes, just a much bigger reason than we all understand at this place in time. Keep the good songs coming friends!!!! Mark

  • I see the comment right below mine chides you for the catchiness of your music and I have to say..

They are completely correct. "Ivory Tower" has been playing in my head at least a couple times a day over the past week!

Nice to see some of the family, RIck.

  • thank you!!! youre right!!

    luke

  • thanks lee!!!! love your songs!!!

    see ya around!!

    cheers.. luke

  • As a special shout-out to Luke, I would like to say that you are fortunate to have around you so many talented people. In time, you will no doubt develop your own style, perhaps radically different from what you are doing today, but you have a foundation in some really good music, and a wide varietyu of role models in the people who have covered Doug's or your father's music, and in those whose music they cover. You have had a headstart and seem to be going in a good direction with it.

  • Another great production, gentlemen. It is an interestring look at how some small thing can be a link to the past, and to the source of whatever music or arts one might create down the line. The phone booth is an excellant symbol of that connection with the past, a physical link to someone who has helped shape who and what you are today.

In that same light, featuring Luke so prominently reinforces that sense of continuity of time and memories.

  • Absolutly beautiful, great song!!
