More on the VMU. Is it just eye candy? Does it work? I'm here to say indeed it is, and indeed it does...and I'm JUST beginning to have fun!

  • Are you still running your EFIE devices? I would assume that you abandoned the other mods when you got the VMU system in correct?

BTW, now that you have had the EFIE and VMU comparison what is your impression of the EFIE system? I hear it is a bit of a pain to dial in.

    -Thanks

  • You are correct. I scrapped all but the voltage input, under hood amp gauge, and the automated reactor level control. I also have left the external cooling circuit. The blue anodized cooling tower ended up being used as an electrolyte...hehe...I had a feeling it would, just not as fast as it did. I just won a bid on a stainless steel cooler. Let you know how that goes. As far as the VMU controls go, here is what I have found thus far. OBD2 ONLY should have 2 (two) of the 4 (four) o2 sensors.

  • Since the VMU sends out equal voltages signal offsets to all 4 o2 sensors, the o2's behind the cats receive the same voltage offset as the ones in front of the cats (the ones we need control of) This additional voltage offset trips a trouble code from the aft o2 sensors, as their job is not to adjust the signal to the injectors, but more to rate the condition of the catalytic converter. (*70 mA offset can be run to all four sensors without setting this code. However, not enough offset. (cont)

  • You may want to make sure you are getting HHO under acceleration. Adding one of those W4G one-way valves to let air into the bubbler under vacuum helps. Also, most newer vehicles will start having problems if you add more than 280mv to the 02 sensors.
