Today we are going to show you part number TH872XT from Thule. This is their fairing. This is a fairing that will fit any Thule roof rack that is out there. What it does basically is function to reduce wind noise by taking the wind and blocking it and pushing it over the bars so it does not create a whistling effect or any additional road noise. To prove the point, what we will do is, we will take this car and actually drive it down the road with the sunroof open where you can hear the noise of the wind coming over the bars themselves. Next we will go ahead and install the fairing and then you will see how much of a reduction in noise we have after that.

This is without the fairing. As you can tell, it is quite noisy. Now we will install the fairing. To install the fairing, you have four clips that get installed in a cross rail. I will install the fourth one to show you how easy it is to snap on. There is a little arrow on top to show you which direction to point them. Get them around the bar and then just snap them shut. And, as we stated before, the clips on the fairing will actually snap onto the clips that we installed on the roof rack. Basically, just do two on one side and then go back over and do the other side. Once you have the knobs tightened up, the fairing is ready to go. With the fairing now attached, let us do our road test again. As you can tell now, the fairing has made quite a difference. All right, and that covers it for part number TH872XT from Thule, their fairing.
