Gurf Morlix, originally from Buffalo, now living in Austin, spends his summers in northern Ontario, Canada. He recently played a solo set at Four Fold Farms near Guelph, opening for the Sadies. ToBeScene's Aldo Erdic recorded the title song from his latest solo album, Diamonds To Dust.
It's so nice to see and hear Gurf sing and play. He is so great in all his simplicity

A friend says of Gurf, "Guy's voice sounds like he gargles razor blades." I think Gurf would smile, because he likes the fact that his voice has gotten rough over the past few years, it's as if his voice is growing into his songs.
This is some darn fine songwriting. Gurf's last two albums in particular -- Diamonds to Dust and Last Exit To Happyland -- are filled with excellent songwriting of this sort. Buy'em.
