* A young lady came home from a date, rather sad. She told her mother, “Jeff proposed to me an hour ago.”
“Then why are you so sad?” her mother asked.
“Because he also told me he was an atheist. Mom, he doesn’t even believe there’s a hell.”
Her mother replied, “Marry him anyway. Between the two of us, we’ll show him how wrong he is.”

Nothing like seeing one of the Koch brothers smiling because they know they are going to live a long life with no real problems while being selfish and greedy to not share their bounty or even pay their taxes ... not the kind of smile that makes me happy.

I'm trying to smile, but this seems like those phony positive things that there is just no upside in disagreeing with because even though it is a bunch of nonsense (not all of it but just the idea that if you smile falsely you will live longer) that you cannot even talk about. Argh ... like Barbara Ehrenreich's book "Bright-sided: How the Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking Has Undermined America" ... the foolish use of these ideas is actually oppressive, making it harder to smile.
