Have to agree with that guy with the X's before and after his name, I really like it slow. I didn't hear it until my school's chamber orchestra played it, and I know it says right up top "Not too slow", but it sounds better when it's in slow motion. The comment about it bleeding is right, it is dying. The final marking (in the bass part anyway) is "dying away". I can't imagine Purcell wanting this to be lively.

i love love this song, and really do prefer it played at this slow pace, because then you can really hear all the emotions and intricacies going on underneath.

Has to be the slowest I've ever heard it performed, which misses the dance likeness, but brings out the suspensions beautifully. I like it.

@Tonys714 it could be... but the music would die ;-) Take into account that we would not try to make a historic version of the chaconne (noted the name of B Britten at the title).
