try again In Springsteen's originl version the line is "Cut loose like a deuce another runner in the night" and in Mann's version 4 years later the line reads "revved up like a deuce, runner in the night".

Even after looking up the lyrics when it kept sounding like "douche", I still can't hear it as anything else. Maybe he meant to sing "deuce", but what comes out of the guy's mouth is "douche", damnit!

I always thought it was "Ripped up like a douche; another loner in the night", myself. Which I knew couldn't be right, but that's all it could ever interpret as in my brain. @_@ It does not sound like anything else in my mind. Sadface.
