This is not the shrine itself but rather the mountain Mt. Inari. These red gates guide you as you climb and descend the mountain. It is actually quite breathtaking when you experience it for yourself.

Along the way you pass several small shrines with mostly fox motives.

Unless I am mistaken, the shrine is dedicated to 'rice'. Inari is the name of the God of rice and foxes (among other things) in Shintoism.

People who know better may correct me so that I can edit this information if necessary.
