STEP #3 - Have your system properly configured

STEP #4 - Check hard disk volumes for errors

STEP #5 - Defragment volumes of hard disks

Cleaning the Registry doesn't speed up your computer at all

@Shadow13497 If you haven't cleaned your registry, then there is bound to be a bunch of junk in it about all the different programs you've had installed. Your computer uses the registry often and each time it does, it has to go through all the junk already in it. Cleaning up your registry speeds up the process and your computer.
