my friend from Ghana says that in Ghana, the shea nuts create yellow and ivory shea butter, depending on whether or not they crush some of the tree bark in the mixture, which makes it smokey smelling and yellow. He said that over in Nigeria, their shea nut only makes the ivory shea butter and like you said, a totally different tree makes the African Butter. So, what you're saying is correct, but there are two colors of Shea butter when the nut comes from Ghana.

@MzAnonymous30 Some good places to get unrefined shea butter from are
alaffia . com
shop . agbangakarite . com
sheabutterweb . com
butters-n-bars . com
Each of these has high quality unrefined off-white to beige shea butters. My personal favorite is Alaffia/Agbanga Karite, as they are well know, fair trade, high quality, and reputable. With Alaffia you buy a small, 2 oz jar for almost $10 but, with their coop, Agbanga Karite, you can order in bulk and get 14 oz for $12.
