Mikey Moore was given free use of a parking deck for "his" theatre. He was (without question) granted "free parking' in a public owned deck which is already suffering from a shortfall of revenue generated. Mikey says that it should be "free" because his "movie patrons" already pay $8.00 and if they park in the deck then it cost them up to 12 dollars to go to the movies. Ignoring the obvious flaws in his statements (one person per vehicle? loosing money so it should be free?...) the City Commission handed him another gift. Trust me. The "patrons" of his movies can afford it! Can we say limousine liberals?

Further, he Rants about a piece of property owned by an outsider (as if) and doesn't want public art placed on public land where he's been granted full and *FREE* use during "His" film festival.

Even the "conservatives" on the City Commission cream their jeans when Mikey shows up.

  • If he gets any bigger he's gonna need a hover round

  • I believe the festival is called "The Traverse City Film Festival" and I believe it brings tons of revenue to our coffers. The State Theatre is a gift that is available to all to use. I personally go there every Saturday with my kids for the 25 cent movies. I do not ride in a Limo to get there. I pay the $8 to see quality films not Hollywood drivel that is being force fed to us but works that encourage my mind to work. How about the games that are free or the Inaugeral coverage. Get a life.

  • Michael Moore is absolutely right... i have this argument with the city of pgh all the time... the fundamental argument they make is that people should "Pay for Parking" and Moore says it should be free... but ultimately, it isn't an issue of paying or free, it's an issue that you payed for the city run lots with tax dollars then again through fee's and who does it hurt the most... working people... this is why suburban malls always win, even thought the city has the name recognition
