A northern soul track that is seldom played in NS clubs anymore
because of the connection with the musical film 'Grease'

but if its on Youtube or you find the old OLD version of it
you'll hear its a classic, not when the are bee gee'ing it with the massive flyaway collars and kipper ties you had no need for a shirt with as the tie itsself covered you twice over

This cover doesn't give it credit I am afraid to say

Try 'You're Ready Now' to me his best song ever think when he was with the four seasons

  • Sorry but this has nothing whatsoever to do with Northern Soul...Greas by Frankie Valli is not Northern Soul, you need to do some research pal. Frankie had a couple of tracks that were/are played on the Mod/Soul scene but Grease is definitely not one of them

  • @scotjames LOL SHHHHHHHHHHHH NOT SO LOUD

I TRIED IT ON ACOUSTIC, MESSED WITH IT AND

IT GAVE OFF A SIMPLISTIC NS SOUND

(YOU CAN HEAR IT IF YOU FORGET THE FILM/ORIGINS

NOT SO BE BOP A LU BOP)

  • What a bag of SHIT!!!!

  • @FOLDmHIGH charming, now that makes us both wrong

  • @trexlakes true say

  • @mowman66 Well it ain't disco mate, which is what all the idiots try to bundle it into!

  • buoymy Interesting mix of songs there, Like stop look listen a lot as for the abba one I hear it but hard to get the original out your head, might give it a try, slip it on my lst to do

  • I listened to 'You're Ready Now' for the first time in years just now and I see exactly what you mean. Re your version of 'Grease' I have thought long and hard about other underrated songs that would suit this treatment and Thom Bell's 'Stop Look Listen' ( check out the Gaye / Ross version on YouTube and hear Marvin's opening verse - great soul singing ) and 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' from Abba ( I sing 'a call after midnight' being male ! ) Look forward to hearing them - Cheers Brian

  • buoymy I prefered him so much more with the 4 seasons, if you watch the film 'the wanderers' i think 4 maybe 3 of his songs are in it (Big Girls Don't Cry and Walk Like a Man for sure and maybe sherry) but my fave you're ready now Pure Northern soul, i feel the soul in this too, Thanks so much, hope to hear your version soon

  • I have been learning this song on acoustic guitar after realising,as you have, that it has a beauty that transcends the excellent Franki Valli recording. I admire your version because it strips down the song to its essence - great
