I started my locks on December 29th of 2005 and I can't believe it's been a whole 6yrs!!! I've learned a lot about myself and my hair during this journey and I'm still enjoying the path I'm on...

I've kept a photo journal since day one, so I thought I'd share a slideshow of my locking journey from day one to present. Enjoy!

  • How often do you maintenance?? And how often do you wear your locs straight??

  • @Tamed100810 - I have quite a few vids on my regimen if you'd like to check them out. To answer your questions, I wash & retwist every 2wks in the warmer months and every 3wks in the cooler months. I typically wear my locs straight.

  • Your locs are absolutel BEAUTIFUL!! I hope that mine turn out as beautiful as yours, the also exhibit your beautiful spirit.

  • @soccermom777 - Thanks so much for such a great compliment! I'm truly flattered. Your locks will be beautiful, don't you worry. Just keep them moisturized and free of build up and BOOM, you've got a gorgeous mane of locks lol!!! ;-)

  • your loss are gorgeous. do u live in the d.c. area? who is ur loctician? yours look so healthy. I've been natural almost 3 yrs and plan on locking my hair. I've been wanting loc extensions but am slowly leaning toward doing it the natural way with baby locs.

  • @marylandmom - Thanks, and yes I live in the DMV. I maintain my own locks, but the loctician that started my locks and maintained them for the first year is Camille Reed. Salon info: Noire Design Concepts in Silver Spring. She's very knowledgeable about locks and natural hair in general, so I highly recommend her!! .. And I always think it's better to just go natural with baby locks and allow them to go through their phases, it's all a part of the beauty of the journey!

  • @MsRelaytionships - Thank you and I'm so thrilled to hear that my vid helped you so much. Yayyy for saving locks, it would've been so tragic had you cut your babies off!! .. And I agree with you, it's so important to focus on making sure our natural hair is kept healthy and strong as well as beautiful ;-) .. Thanks for watching!

  • @windycitygirl00 - Thanks sis, I'm so happy you enjoyed the vid and thanks so much for the compliment ;-) .. There's no such thing as perfect locks, so don't worry about yours. Perfect parts aren't necessary!! .. Enjoy the journey, you'll be celebrating your 1yr lociversary in no time!!!

  • Absolutely Gorgeous!!! I don't think I've ever mentioned this to you, but your videos on ACV rinses prevented me from cutting my locs COMPLETELY off during a bad bout of lint. Your locs are beautiful and more importantly, healthy. Thank you for sharing your wonderful journey!

  • I finally watched this video and I loved it so much. You are beautiful Nat and your personality is awesome. The photos were so colorful.I know all locs aren't the same, sometimes I feel like mine are not the way they should be.I don't have perfect parts in my head.I had two strand twists extensions in my head and as my new growth came in I started twisting them and kept them in until they eventually came out,so I officially loc'd my hair in April 2011.Thanks again for your inspirations.
