i didn't understand what spitzer found about our milkyway? can anyone explain it to me?

Basically, Spitzer studies led astronomers to re-draw the map of the Milky Way. It's very hard to figure out the structure of the galaxy from inside it. Before Spitzer, we thought the Milky Way had four major spiral arms. Now we know it's only got two.
