Saitoti, Ojode funeral services set for Thursday, Friday

At the home of the late Professor George Saitoti where burial arrangements are underway, elders revealed that Maasai traditions shall be interlaced with Christian rites during the ceremony. Funeral services will be held for the late Ojode and Saitoti on Thursday and Friday respectively. Ntv's Francis Mutegi visited the late Saitoti's Enkasiti home and filed the following report.

It is common to find kikuyus who have settled in Maasai land and adopted their culture. Also during the 1880s n early 1900s when kikuyus n maasais raided each other, women n cows were taken. my great grandmother (grandfather's mum) a maasai was a product of such raids. Not to dispute your point, the late prof was born to Kuria muthengi n Mary Gathoni in Kikuyu division, his family relocated to Ngong when he was 8, he changed to Saitoti so as to be enrolled to local maasai school.

His father was a Maasai, you know how it goes in Kenya. From what I know anyway, alsmost all Kikuyu have Maasai relatives, so you see this tribalism thing is very recent.
