@drwaynejohnson Chopin wrote to possible endings - one being the major version executed so masterfully by Rubinstein here, as well as the more commonly heard minor version. As to why he wrote two endings... his prerogative as composer I guess?!
Exquisite rendition, as one would expect from Rubinstein. But I wonder why he ends the piece on a B major chord? Every score I've seen, and every other recording I've heard ends on a B minor chord after the stormy outburst in the last few measures, leaving the listener with a sense of resignation and uncertainty.
