You'd think they could at least find a way to lead us toward doom with more class and sophistication.
They can't even get DOOM right? Good grief, the people deserve a better Doom delivery than "uhhh derrrr....we dunno....don't make no sense!"

The term militia is commonly used today to refer to a military force composed of ordinary citizens[1] to provide defense, emergency law enforcement, or paramilitary service, in times of emergency without being paid a regular salary or committed to a fixed term of service

I've had a vegetable garden and chickens in my garden for the last 8yrs! Even our school is making a veg garden and lots of people are being encouraged to grow their own foo. Just hope we get a decent summer.
I'm curious to know why you are so adamant about nationalization. Krugman, Stiglitz, Roubini, Taleb, Baker Agree: Nationalize
Among economists who've been right about most things over the last few years, there's virtual consensus. The "only answer" ( in the words in Joseph Stiglitz), "the obvious answer" (in the words of Dean Baker) is to nationalize the banks. While these leading economists might differ in the specifics, they agree that we need some form of government ownership. U know more??

Nationalisation leads to socialism. I am a true believer in 'moral capitalism'. There should be no need for nationalisation if responsible corporate entities existed. Indeed, in a properly working market these institutions would fail; to be replaced by 'more efficient' entities. The 'bailouts' are merely a means of transferring wealth from the masses to the corrupt. Check out where the various bailout money is actually going.
Avoid Keynesian theory; it is predicated on inflation for growth.

I agree with you in theory, but this situation seems so extreme. Sweden [yes, speaking of socialism lol] was able to ring fence its toxic loans through a nationalized scheme. They then rebuilt their banking system and were able to resell it later. I think in a nutshell that's what these four diverse economists, Krugman, Stiglitz, Roubini, Taleb, Baker, are looking at.

The Swedish 'experiment' in bank nationalisation was limited in scope. The total amounts invested at the time were small in comparison, and easy to finance (unlike today). Sweden was exporting at the time, and there wasn't a huge recession looming. The situation today is far different and the risks are much greater. And in all, this really goes against the entire system America has been preaching for years.
In an existing Socialist state it would be fine. I'm not sure America is ready for it!
