Song from CD: Over 60 minutes with... Lightfoot - Song written by Phil Ochs (1940-1976). Pics from my personal photos collection.
Lyrics:
Sit by my side, come as close as the air,
Share in a memory of gray;
Wander in my words, dream about the pictures
That I play of changes.

Green leaves of summer turn red in the fall
To brown and to yellow they fade.
And then they have to die, trapped within
the circle time parade of changes.

Scenes of my young years were warm in my mind,
Visions of shadows that shine.
Til one day I returned and found they were the
Victims of the vines of changes.

The world's spinning madly, it drifts in the dark
Swings through a hollow of haze,
A race around the stars, a journey through
The universe ablaze with changes.

Moments of magic will glow in the night
All fears of the forest are gone
But when the morning breaks they're swept away by
golden drops of dawn, of changes.

Passions will part to a strange melody.
As fires will sometimes burn cold.
Like petals in the wind, we're puppets to the silver
strings of souls, of changes.

Your tears will be trembling, now we're somewhere else,
One last cup of wine we will pour
And I'll kiss you one more time, and leave you on
the rolling river shores of changes.

(repeat first verse)

  • Did Garth Brooks also sing a remake of this song? Beautiful song with a beautiful slide show to go with it. Thanks for posting.

  • @nemesisgenius Thanks so much for your comment! Perhaps Garth Brooks did ''The changes'', re: musical tribute to the heros of the bombing of the Oklahoma City Building in 1995...

  • Wonderful work, cristomotez!

I especially admire your providing the lyrics. Phil Ochs was a true (if minor) poet. Thanks for your efforts and the darn good pictures.

  • @lskarin Thank you very much for your comment!

  • Oh gee, another Gordon Lightfoot song that is so sweet with its lyrics and melodies. What a surprise. NOT.

  • Brilliant...I'll have to uncover more Ochs...Gordon did him proud!

  • @lskarin Phil Ochs was the conscience of our generation, and it killed him when he guessed how we'd turn out..

  • Beautiful melody, nice pictures !! Phalaïna

  • @cristomontez Your welcome! This tune totally sounds like a Garth Brooks song.Especially the guitar track. I picture Garth's voice singing this as I hear it, though Gordon Lightfoot did a magnificant job. However, Garth Brooks indeed had another song called "The Change." Very touching song.
