It is not as easy as it may appear. I have been playing classical piano for 5 years and even though i am one of my piano teacher's best students i have not been able to start learning compostion till only a couple of weeks ago and although learning harmony is not too difficult once you get into stuff like fugues and counter-point it becomes incredebly difficult. The musicians who write songs without any prior trianing, the beatles, are just creative and have a good sence of what sounds good.

Amadeus was a travesty. Mozart was no buffoon. See instead Marcel Bluwal's simple beautiful six part drama "Mozart"

I did't like Amadeus either. Tom Hulce's Mozart seemed like he belonged in a sitcom.

Glad to hear you agree, polymath7. My theory is that Milos Forman, who directed Amadeus, down deep knows that he, like Solieri, has little talent and his envy leads him to make a movie in sympathy with Solieri and has to make Mozart look like an imbecile. Do see Marcel Bluwal's wonderful just-right series "Mozart". It is quite magical

Notice the 4 note motif of the last movement of his Jupiter symphony (his last) also used in this one.
