  • The center main is a weak point but not as wimpy as some think. Drag racing loads only last for a few seconds which makes the job easier. I use a mild steel center maincap, ARP retaining bolts, Clevite 77 bearings and Valvoline VR-1 20W-50 racing oil. It all seems to work. The redline is 5800 rpm.

  • The engine uses a Roadrunner Engineering "Big Kahuna" supercharger kit with a Roadrunner manifold and a Weiand 174 blower.

    The engine has a heavy duty steel center maincap.

  • this is a good motor for my roadster

  • My first car, a 1953 Ford, had a 239.4 flathead V8. The problem I had was while driving wide open, 86 mph. I lost oil pressure and then the center main spun, broke the bolts and cap and then the bent crankshaft started hitting the block. To it's credit, I drove the poor thing for three weeks with no oil pressure until I could find a replacement engine. This was in 1966. How do you keep the crank bearings in this engine?
