The African lion is in danger of becoming extinct, with a population that's diminished by as much as 85 percent over the past 20 years. As Bob Simon reports, cattle ranchers are poisoning them with a cheap American pesticide to protect their herds.

  • Why don't they just construct a big fence around the cattle to protect them from lions?

  • We have been awful stewards of mother earth.

  • Why is it people care more about animals than people who are being poisoned everyday with chemtrails, chemicals and GMO food and flourinated water. Not to mention the vacines filled with mercury we inoculate our children with. We are killing our planet. Let's not forget all the earth(indigenous) people that we shoot up with viruses. And I love all creatures.

  • Why lions kill the hyenas so the lions get more space and animals to hunt and not be scavenge by those laughing dogs

  • I'm absolutely stunned...lions going EXTINCT?? LIONS?? Thank God George Adamson is'nt alive to see this...it would kill him all over again if he knew that his horrific prediction of lions being wiped out were actually coming true. God, this is heartbreaking.

  • dtrantblogspot, your comment is one of the most ignorant I've ever read. You're a typical arrogant human with no regard for the animals who share our planet.

  • Nature takes care of these things it's when man sticks his nose in it upsets the balance of nature.

  • DId you finish watching this video??? or are we watching the same video?? It's amazing how "little" people learn to remain ignorant.

  • I can safely say my family will be free from lion attacks... They may get shot, run over or die from artery-clogging fried foods, but I'll not be protesting fried chicken any time soon.

Lions can be kept away from herds without poison. The poison is just a cheap, quick solution. The African tourism industry will likely deal with this.

  • If cattle ranchers need the cattle to survive, and the lions need the cattle to survive, then humans will find a way to win out, that's just nature.
