Some thoughts I had over a member of our message boards leaving due to her belief in God and Jesus. Which is honestly the first time I've actually seen such a thing.

My thoughts and the conclusion I came to regarding the Feedback Loop that many Religious individuals find themselves in. Which is also why it's a pain and rather ineffective to talk to them and try and show them where they are wrong.

  • There are multiple positive feedback loops in religion. Not all religious people use all of them. Religion is self-organizing. I found this video because I was interested in how following the ethics and rituals of a religion strengthens the attachment bond with the deity which reduces emotional and physical pain which lessens the urge to violence which makes it easier to follow the ethics and rituals of the religion.

  • some people tried to convert me after I got hit by a car a while ago. I only had a little bruise despite a 30+ mph impact. I say if god REALLY wanted to protect me he could have just made the brakes on my bike work a little better.
